Oh My Gosh, She Went to Sleep!
Thursday, May 22, 2008
As much as I love my daughter, she has a few issues that
have been nearly impossible to deal with. Like sleeping, for
instance. I don't know why, but she has always had some crazy sleeping problems. When she was a baby, and even still today, she has the hardest time sleeping anywhere but in her crib. I'm pretty sure it's because I followed a book's advice to always put her in her crib for all her naps and everything. So when she was in a playpin, she was miserable. She still doesn't sleep in them. And then there's the problem with where she sleeps. She has almost always slept great at home, but rarely sleeps well anywhere else. If she doesn't know her environment, she doesn't want to sleep there. Oh, and it has to be very quiet and absolutely dark. I've created a monster, I'm afraid. This makes family trips miserable. I'm trying to prevent this problem with Sophie. Anyway, a few months ago, she was refusing to go to bed. Period. It didn't matter when or where, even at home, she did not want to go to sleep. During this period of time (thankfully it's over) she was so tired one day that she fell asleep in her high chair. Twice. In one day. Never had before, and never has since. I was shocked, and extremely happy. I didn't even try to move her, didn't want to risk waking her up. And, of course, I thought it was the cutest thing ever.
